Beginner's Guide
The FPV Beginner's Journey
A chronological guide to successfully entering the world of FPV drones.
1The Priority Purchase: The Radio
One never starts with the drone, but with the radio controller. This is the tool you will keep the longest.
RadioMaster Pocket ELRS
The ideal choice for small budgets. It is compact, features Hall effect (magnetic) gimbals, and operates under the ELRS. protocol. It is the quintessential all-purpose radio.
RadioMaster TX15
The «End-Game» choice. The TX15 offers standard-size ergonomics, a color screen for easy adjustments, and the surgical precision essential for high-level Freestyle.
2The Simulator (Essential)
Connect your Pocket or your TX15 to your computer via USB. Before taking off in real life, you must «train» your brain.
- Learn exclusively in Acro mode (no auto-stabilization).
- Do not proceed to purchase the drone until you master hovering and passing through gates.
- Recommended Simulators: Uncrashed, Tryp FPV, or Liftoff.
3The Vision System
The choice between Analog (raw, fast, inexpensive) and Digital (HD, total immersion).
Analog: EV800D & Skyzone
- Eachine EV800D: The beginner's king of goggles. Detachable 5-inch screen and excellent value for money.
- Skyzone 04O / 04X: The best analog goggles. OLED screens and SteadyView receiver that merges the signal to prevent dropouts.
Digital: DJI G2 / G3
The future of FPV. The Goggles 2 (G2) or Goggles 3 (G3) offer a crystal-clear 1080p image, making piloting much easier thanks to visual clarity.
4Workshop & First Connection
A soldering error can fry your entire drone on the first connection. You must use a SwiftFlying Smoke Stopper. It cuts the power in case of a short circuit.
Soldering Equipment
Invest in a smart iron (TS101 or SI012 Pro Max). Use quality solder and Flux to ensure your solder joints are clean and durable.
